First year at uni, second semester project based on weave.

My project was based on the natural environment like trees, bark and other various things

I'm just about getting into the spirit of halloween. Halloween is

definitely one of my favourite holiday celebrations. Its always fun

to dress up and do odd, crazy makeup which you would never

normally do or could get away with on any other occassion.

Ray Villafane has inspired me to be more innovative and detailed in

pumpkin carving. His creations are amazing, extraordinary and far more creative

then the average carved pumpkin everyone seems to do. Here are a few

of his lastes creations of his pumpkin heads.

Apparently Ray only takes around two hours to carve, slice, gouge, he

uses tools like spoons to scalpels to create his works of wonder.

"For the past couple of years I have been really sitting down and giving my

Halloween pumpkin designs more thought than usual due to the increased

interest in my carvings," said Ray. He's preparing to debut his pumpkins

at model Heidi Klum's Las Vegas Halloween party.

His work inspires me to try and create a more detailed pumpkin this halloween.

I also like how he's even used the pumpkin seeds in some of his designs like

in one of the pictures above to give the effect of tears.

In my first project at University, I focused on flowers and nature. Its just a simple

observational drawing of some roses from my first year at uni as

a starting point for my project which was based on repeat pattern.

This beautiful lampshade, hand made by remade, USA.

Is made out of vintage doilies which gives it an elegant

and delicate feel. I also love how the doilies create an interesting

patterned shadow,not many lamp shades give you that effect.

This definitely inspires me to try to create a beautiful piece using doilies,

i may even try to incorporate them in my current uni project.
